Dingle Bay and Blaskets teeming with wildlife
For the last week we were prevented from going out to sea due to some very windy weather but today we availed of a short break from wind and rain and sailed out of Ventry in beautiful sunshine. We were hopeful to get some good sightings as we had been observing plenty of marine life from our vantage point at Slea Head during the week and were not disappointed. Shortly after leaving Ventry we came across a minke whale and further on into our trip we were surrounded by what can only be described as a teeming array of wildlife, with about 15 basking sharks, several more minke whales and various groups of common dolphins that followed us all the way from Inisvickalaun to beyond Slea Head on the way home. So far it's been a fantastic early summer display of marine wildlife here and all we need now is some more fine weather to allow us to savour it all!
